[BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA] – Senator Rick Edmonds today announced his campaign to represent Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District, offering voters a clear choice: a proven conservative who lives in the district and has spent more than a decade delivering results for its people in the Louisiana Legislature, or an opponent who lives in and represents an entirely different part of the state and whose record and priorities are out of step with Louisiana’s 6th District.
“Since the day Governor Landry signed the new congressional districts into law, I have been actively campaigning to be the next congressman from the Sixth Congressional District. It’s been incredible to meet with voters, local officials, and business leaders across the district and hear about the issues that are important around their kitchen tables, board rooms and city halls. Whether it’s public safety, flood mitigation, aging infrastructure, or affordability, our next congressman must be a proven conservative from this district who can advance President Trump’s agenda and get results for the people who live here.
I don’t usually talk about my opponents, but this race is a clear choice between two different candidates with different visions for how to serve this district. Sen. Miguez is not from here and he doesn’t understand our communities’ issues. Unfortunately, we’ve been told his out-of-state dark money supporters are willing to say and do anything to win. They’ll lie and try to buy this election. I know our people, the people of the Sixth Congressional District, can see through that and won’t let them do it. Truth will prevail.
This race will come down to who best understands the needs of Louisiana’s 6th District, and who has the proven record to deliver conservative victories for its people.
While my opponent lives in an entirely different part of the state and missed more than 200 votes during the last legislative session, I was showing up and working to deliver results for the people of Louisiana.
These are my people. This is my home. And I am ready to serve as the next congressman from Louisiana’s 6th District because I already have a proven record of fighting—and delivering—for the communities that call this district home.

In response to reports that President Donald Trump withdrew his endorsement from Senator Blake Miguez, Edmonds said:
“By declining to endorse Senator Miguez in Louisiana’s 6th District, President Trump has sent a clear message: both his support and the support of the voters must be earned. I look forward to working alongside President Trump in Washington to advance his America First agenda, just as I have delivered conservative results in the Louisiana Legislature for the people of this district.”

- Will you have to forfeit your State Senate seat since you claim to live in Baton Rouge?
- Since you don’t live in either the Fifth or Sixth congressional districts, why did you switch from the Fifth to the Sixth?
