
State Senator Rick Edmonds is a Republican Member of the Louisiana Senate representing Louisiana’s District 6. He is the chairman of the Senate Education Committee, and also serves on the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Insurance Committee, and the Senate Judiciary A Committee. He also serves on the Joint Legislative Budget Committee, the Joint Legislative Capital Outlay Committee, and the Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee. Prior to being elected to the Louisiana Senate in 2023, Senator Edmonds served as the State Representative for District 66.
Since being elected to office, Senator Edmonds has been awarded the Most Valuable Policy Maker multiple times by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, the A+ award for the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association, the Legis-gator of the Year Award from the Southwest Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and the Patrick Henry Outstanding Family Advocate multiple times presented by Louisiana Family Forum.
Rick Edmonds is the former Vice President of Louisiana Family Forum, a state family policy group committed to defending faith, freedom and the traditional family in the great state of Louisiana.
Rick has over 40 years of ministry experience. Before joining LFF, Rick pastored several churches in Louisiana and Florida leading each of them to be evangelistic and missional minded churches. He pastored the Calvary Baptist Church in Shreveport leading them to relaunch their high school, which has become one of the most outstanding schools academically, spiritually and athletically in the state of Louisiana. Rick has also been an awarded education administrator in two cities in Louisiana, Baton Rouge and Shreveport, as well as Tampa, Florida. Rick has been a guest speaker and leader of mission projects in over twenty countries around the world. He has overseen projects that include translating the Bible, building of churches, orphanages, children camps, as well as Bible distribution efforts to multiple language groups.
Rick and Cindy are high school sweethearts and have been happily married for over 50 years. They are the proud parents of four sons, four beautiful daughter-in-laws and eight grandchildren.
Rick holds multiple degrees, including the Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the Bachelor of Arts in Religion from East Texas Baptist University. He has done his Doctoral Studies at New Orleans Theological Seminary, and has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate.
